course description

Are you ready to SCRAMBLE? This amazing new trail race showcases the best of the Susan River Canyon! Runners will head up the Bizz Johnson Trail from Hobo Camp for the first half and return via the beautiful and flowy singletrack on the Southside trail across the river. The Southside Scramble has 3 different distances to choose from, a 22K, a 14K, and a 7K. All races start and end at the Hobo Camp Day Use Area
For the Dirty Devil's 22K, runners start on the Fire Road above Hobo Camp, merging onto the Bizz Johnson Trail and take the "outbound" portion of the Bizz Johnson Trail all the way to Devil's Corral. From Devil's Corral, runners turn and drop down to the Susan River, crossing over a seasonal foot bridge, and enter the stunningly beautiful South Side trail with its rockslides, vista points, and flowy single track all the way back to Hobo Camp.
The Tunnel's Blast 14K starts on the Fire Road above Hobo Camp, merging onto the Bizz Johnson Trail and takes the "outbound" portion of the Bizz Johnson Trail to the entrance to the first railroad tunnel. Before heading into the darkness of the tunnel, runners will veer off onto singletrack, where they climb over the top of the tunnel to reach the South Side Trail. From there, they will enjoy the stunningly beautiful South Side trail with its rockslides, vista points, and flowy single track all the way back to Hobo Camp
The "Hobo's Special" 7K starts on the Fire Road above Hobo Camp, merging onto the Bizz Johnson Trail and heads up to the Twin Bridges Access connector to the South Side Trail. You'll get just enough of the Bizz Johnson's steady climb to excite your senses for the fast, flowy South Side's single-track return. Once you get to the finish, enjoy a cold beverage, snacks, BBQ hotdogs for finishers, and a cool dip in the Susan River! Families and friends are welcomed to bring chairs, put up a canopy, and use the day-use BBQ grills for more fun.
